Quick note - #2

We're going to be moving all our hosting accounts to a new server in the next week or two - so meantime we're going to put the tidbits on hold, until we figure out exactly how to copy our archives and files - so we don't have to write everything again.

Setting up the autoresponder

Hope your weekend was wonderful. We're going to be doing 2 things today -
--> Set up a send free account
--> Set up a 'free' email address

Today we're going to setup our autoresponder, and we're going to use the free service 'send free'. One good thing about send free is for every two messages that are sent - we get one of our advertisements posted on someone elses message.

1. Go to Send Free.
2. Click Join today.
3. Read the agreement and accept it (or not).
4. Fill out the membership form - username / password etc.
5. Check your email - you'll get the password to log in to your account.
6. Follow the instructions and log-in to your account.
7. Click on the setting up your autoresponder and read / print out the page.
(tomorrow we'll get down to the nitty gritty of setting one up)

For various things we're going to be doing in the next few weeks, we need to setup a FREE email account. I like to use one that will notify me, when I get a message. You'll get a bit of spam with any of them. I use Hotmail and MSN messenger - but you can use whichever one you prefer.

This weeks festivities -
Tuesday - setup our messages on Send Free
Weds - creating our advertisement (ad) for Send free
Thurs - create our splash page - part 1
Fri - create our splash page - part 2

Till next time have a great Monday.

AutoResponder Series - 3

Hope your week is going well - today we're going to take a look at some paid autoresponders - in lesson 2 we talked about the free versions - most of those versions also have a paid version. Usually the difference between the free and paid is that the paid version has no ads. If you're just starting out then the free version should work just fine, but as you grow your business you'll want the only links to be your links.

Another paid version that we've used in the past is A Weber.
http://www.aweber.com/

A whole list of Free and Paid versions can be found here.

You can also setup your own script if you have a cgi-bin on your site
Here is a nice resource that explains a bit more about the autoresponder process. Click here.

Next week we'll be talking about how to set up the autoresponder - we'll be using one of the freebies, till then have a great weekend.

Have a good one.

AutoResponder Series - 1

The next thing we want to add to our traffic page we're building is an autoresponder series. Today we'll talk about some subjects that you can use.
Tomorrow and Friday we'll discuss the various ways you can send it, then on Monday we'll work on setting it up.

Some points to remember when thinking of your Series -
1. The more it applies to your niche the better.
2. We'll be using this as a selling tool so again the more it applies and the more useful it is to your visitors the better.
3. We want our series to help them solve a problem - again listen to the questions, concerns, and comments that your customers / visitors have and then think of some solutions.

Example - My wife has a crochet site. Many people ask her about translating patterns into plain English - she could have a six or seven letter series that explains this in depth.

If you have an ebook - you can include snippets - this will help to sell it in the long run.... which is what we're planning on doing.

That should give you some things to think about. Questions etc., use the comments button.

The next freebie

The next thing we want to create for our give-a-way page is something that folks can give away from their site. You can use the same technique no matter what type of site / niche you have. The thing we want to do is make it easy for them to give it away.

For this we want to use a brandable ebook which we already have on our site -
http://www.blitzpromotions.com/brand.htm

Some software to do the job on your own can be found here -
http://www.ebookcompiler.com

Any questions you have you can use the comments.
Till Weds. - take care.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) we'll be having fun as our daughter takes her first trip to school!
