Part 1 – Getting traffic from other sources

by admin on March 28, 2012

Hope you week has started off well. So we’ll start a series on getting traffic from other sources. You’ll want to make sure you have a few things in place first, before you start on your adventure. You’ll want a few different things that help people remember you, and that you can contact them if you need to.

1.  A Blog – one of the best ways to get people to follow you, especially if you regularly post some useful content. Notice I said regular. The best way to do it is every day, but every couple of days is fine as well. These posts also make useful content for your facebook and twitter feeds.

2. A Newsletter – a weekly, twice a month or even a monthly newsletter works great. You should also be making sure to point people to your site.. to your blog for instance.

3. Facebook – for all the social media you want to post a few times a day. A few useful posts. Every 10th or 15 post can be something you’re trying to sale or an offer you’re making.

4. Twitter

5. Google Plus

In order to make all of these things work, or just a few of them you’ll want to give them some reason to like you, sign up for your newsletter etc. There are a few different ways you can do this. The easiest way to do it is bribe them. Sign up for our newsletter and you’ll get a coupon. Important – you’ll want to make sure you use different coupons and you’ll want to track them in a spreadsheet. This will help you to figure out which one is working better.

With all of these you don’t want to promote yourself too much. You want to provide good content for people who would use your product. So for example if you’re selling jewelry and every day all they see is buy this, buy that… then pretty soon they will dump you. One of the ways to get around this is to create a content calendar. A great way to start is by listing all the questions people frequently ask you.
