Book Publishing News and an Update

Hope your week is going well – it’s hump day. I wanted to give you an update on what’s happening with our kindle launches.

We hit a snag. As I mentioned to you before the plan was to take patterns that my wife had already made (and posted on her site) and use those patterns as a basis for books. This is important – if your content is available “anywhere” online then it can’t be in the select program. You can sell it on Amazon, people just can’t borrow it, and you can’t offer it for free. So we had to put the second book of crochet patterns in the normal sellers program. It’s not doing nearly as well as the first book which we kind of jump started by giving it away for free.

The good thing of course is you can offer it on other websites (the book) – so we’re working on getting both books on Smashwords. The plan is to offer it there and we’ll try a number of different price points. They of course don’t have nearly the traffic as Amazon, but they do put your book on the Apple bookshelves as well.

Again I’ll keep you updated and explain the submission process a bit on Friday. Enjoy your day.
